Salary Continuance Insurance

As described in the Time Off section, Pinterest provides you with 10 paid sick days each calendar year to cover short term illnesses.

And if you can’t work for an extended period because of illness or injury, Salary Continuance Insurance helps protect your income while you recover. Pinterest provides you with this protection at no cost to you.

After a 90-day waiting period, Salary Continuance pays you a monthly benefit of up to 75% of your monthly base salary, to a maximum of $8,000 AUD per month. You can apply to increase your maximum to as much as $30,000 AUD per month by voluntarily providing your health information for the insurer’s review and approval (medical underwriting).

During the 90-day waiting period, with medical certification you may use your sick day balance until it is exhausted.

You’ll receive Salary Continuance benefits for as long as you’re unable to work, or until you reach age 65 if that occurs first.

For questions about claims or underwriting, email clientoperations@mercermarshbenefits.com or call 1300-265-741.

Life Insurance

Pinterest automatically enrolls you for Life Insurance coverage and pays 100% of the premium for this protection.

The plan not only pays a benefit in the event of your death, but also if you suffer total and permanent disability due to an accident, or are diagnosed with a terminal illness.

In each case, the benefit paid is 4x your base salary up to an automatic maximum of $500,000 AUD. You can apply to increase your maximum by voluntarily providing your health information for the insurer’s review and approval (medical underwriting). Please see the following table.

Type of BenefitAutomatic Maximum BenefitMaximum Benefit With Underwriting

Total Permanent Disability$500,000 AUD$3,000,000 AUD

If you submit underwriting information and while your application is still under review you die or suffer total and permanent disability as the result of an accident, or are diagnosed with a terminal illness, the amount the plan will pay is an Interim Accident benefit of $1,000,000 AUD.

When you reach age 61, the amount of your Total Permanent Disability coverage amount will reduce by 20% each year until it expires at age 65.
